Different types of injection molds have different requirements for design drawings and mold steel. China has not classified the grades of injection molds. The following is the classification standard of the US SPI-SPE.
(1) Type 101 injection mold
SPI-SPE standard, production life ≥ 1 million times, long life precision injection mold.
① Detailed mold assembly drawings and parts drawings are required.
② The minimum hardness of the mold base material is 280BHN (DME # 2 steel / 4140 steel).
③ Inner mold inserts with cavity, the steel must be hardened to 48 ~ 50HRC, and other parts such as sliders, wedges, and pressure blocks should also be hardened. The main part's dimensional accuracy grade is IT5.
④ The putter plate must have a guide post.
⑤ The slider should have a wear-resistant block.
⑥ If necessary, fixed mold, movable mold and sliding mold must have temperature control system.
⑦ For all cooling water channels, it is recommended to use non-electric immersion nickel or 420 stainless steel as inserts, which can prevent rust and facilitate the cleaning of garbage.
⑧ Straight positioning block or cone positioning block is required.
(2) Type 102 injection mold
Production life is 500,000 to 1 million times, and mass production of injection molds.
① Detailed mold assembly drawings and parts drawings are required.
② The minimum hardness of the mold base material is 280BHN (DME # 2 steel / 4140 steel).
③ Inner mold inserts with cavity, the steel should be hardened to 48 ~ 52HEC, and other important parts should be treated uniformly. The main dimensional accuracy grade of molded parts is IT6.
④ It is recommended to use a straight positioning block or a cone positioning block.
⑤ The following items may or may not be required, depending on the final production quantity. It is recommended to check if you need the following items when quoting:
a. Putter plate guide post;
b. Wear block of slider;
c. Plated cooling water holes and plated cavities.
(3) Type 103 injection mold
It has a service life of 100,000 to 500,000 times, and it has medium-to-batch injection molds.
① A detailed mold assembly drawing is required.
② The minimum hardness of the mold base material is 165BHN (DME # 1 steel / 1040 steel).
③ The inner mold insert steel is P20 (28 ~ 32HRC) or high hardness steel (36 ~ 38HRC). The main dimensional accuracy grade of molded parts is IT7.
④ Other requirements are subject to specific needs.
(4) Type injection mold
The production life is 500 ~ 100,000 times, and injection molds are produced in small batches.
① Need mold structure drawing.
② Formwork material P20 (28 ~ 32HRC), can also use mild steel (steel below 40HRC) or aluminum.
③ The inner mold can be made of aluminum, mild steel or other general metals. The main dimensional accuracy grades can be IT7 ~ IT8.
④ Other requirements are determined as needed.
(5) Type injection mold
Production life is less than 500 times, single piece production, making prototype or test mold.
Aluminum alloy, epoxy resin, or any material can be used, as long as it has sufficient strength to produce the minimum number of tests.
